Erritsø Rugby vs. Rugbyklubben Speed, 21/9-2024, 7-136 (7-40)

Presentation:

On Saturday, the men’s team traveled to Erritsø, where Erritsø Rugby awaited in the third match of the fall season.

The game started with a lightning score from Speed, who after 2 minutes took a 7-0 lead. Six minutes later, Speed struck again, and with the help of fullback Joakim Kalmar’s sure boot, it was now 14-0.

However, it was not something that knocked the home team off course. After the second Speed score, a period followed where Erritsø showed strong tactics and managed to stress Speed’s defense, just as Erritsø’s cluster caused the Speed team problems.

The home team built up pressure, which they took full advantage of. After 12 minutes, Erritsø was able to bring themselves completely into the match with a score that the home team converted to make the score 14-7.

In the following period, Erritsø had a couple of penalties, which the team did not take advantage of to get closer to Speed, who got things under control and managed to make four more tries before referee Dennis Graversen whistled for the break at 7-40.

After the break, the Erritsø team, who had worked hard and fought hard in the first half, lost their breath. At the same time, the Speed team was clinical. Hardly any balls were dropped, the passes were straight, and one breakthrough followed another. The halftime score was 96 points for Speed, who won 136-7.

The win means that Speed has opened the fall playoffs with three wins (including a desk win over Aarhus) and a narrow defeat to Frederiksberg. This means that the team is currently in second place in the playoffs, just behind Frederiksberg.

However, everything is still wide open, which is why the season is set for a thrilling finish when Speed returns to action on the other side of the upcoming national team break. The next match is on October 19, when we face Aarhus away from home.

After the match, both teams named Speeds center Lukas Baes Maidens as the player of the match. Lukas was unstoppable in the game, breaking the line countless times.

However, there were also a number of other players who delivered an extraordinary performance. These included our young second row Felix Busk Elmegaard, who was a machine in defense. So was the team’s most experienced player, flanker Brendan Ekstein, who made a few turnovers and many tackles
