FRK was defeated in a solid performance
The men’s first division ended with a bang with a solid win over Frederiksberg Rugby Klub (FRK). On Saturday, October 14, the men’s team faced off against their current rivals FRK. When Speed lost without getting bonus points in the spring meeting at Frederiksberg, who got bonus points at the time, it was clear that something special was needed for Speed to hang gold medals around their necks after the match. It required a bonus point victory (3 tries more than them) and a score better than 22-3 (as the first match ended). Still, Speed were determined to go for it all against Frederiksberg, who haven’t lost a league game in five years. Frederiksberg got off to the best start and scored quickly. But that didn’t knock the Speed players off course. From there, the match was colored yellow and green for a long period. Speed scored and the match was close. However, it was well into the second half before Speed pulled away. Towards the end of the match, Speed scored twice within a short time, FRK scored no more, and suddenly it was 3-1 in tries. This meant that the important bonus point was within reach. Unfortunately, time ran out. The match ended 19-11 to Speed, who thus broke Fredeirksberg’s winning streak, much to the delight of the many Speed supporters in attendance. However, the gold dream is still alive. It requires Frederiksnerg to stumble in their final match against Exiles, which will be played in Lyngby on October 28. The men’s team has no more league matches. Now only the match in England in November remains.
